Virginia "Marie" Strasemeier

Virginia "Marie" Strasemeier, age 97, of Milton, Kentucky, and the daughter of the late Robert F. and Mary (Maddox) Strasemeier, was born on February 8, 1929, in Milton, Kentucky. After graduating from Milton High School, Marie briefly worked at the ASCS Office in Bedford and at Mills Department Store before beginning a remarkable 61-year career at the Farmer's Bank of Milton, where she faithfully served as assistant cashier until her retirement in 2016. Over the years, she formed many lifelong friendships with her colleagues and became a very familiar, welcoming presence as guests visited the bank.

In her free time, Marie found joy in embroidery and crocheting, collecting cardinal figurines and recipe books, and tending to her flowers. She also enjoyed baking and became known among family for her holiday jam cakes. A devoted member of Mt. Byrd Christian Church, Marie was actively involved in her Sunday School class, supported numerous missionaries, and served as church treasurer for many years. She will be remembered as an easygoing, kind, and deeply loved woman who will be greatly missed by many. Miss Strasemeier passed away on Saturday, May 2, 2026 at River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.

Her life will be cherished by her niece: Sandra Sparkman and her husband, Phillip of Commiskey, Indiana; her nephew: Gerald Phillips and his wife, Susan of Commiskey; her sister: Martha Phillips of Madison; her great-nieces: Danica Houze (Andrew), Amanda Borne (Micah), and Charissa Reedy (Brent); her great-nephews: Barton Phillips (Constance), and Matthew Sparkman (Shelby); several great great nieces and nephews; and three dear friends who helped care for her over the years, Ginny Bailey, Connie Kemper, and Janice Webster. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her niece: Sheila Phillips; her brother-in-law, Omer Phillips; and her companion: Ralph King.
