Obituary

Nancy Kay Box, age 77, and the daughter of the late Richard and Betty (Hopwood) Box, was born on October 22, 1948, in Scottsburg, Indiana. She was a graduate of Hanover High School and went on to complete technical training to become an electrician. Nancy proudly worked for 26 years as a union electrician with IBEW Local 369. In her spare time, she enjoyed cooking, playing Euchre, drinking coffee, tending to her flower garden, caring for her animals, knitting, sewing, and spending time with her family. She especially loved watching the Kentucky Derby each year at her son’s house and, without fail, would place her bet on the gray horse.

Nancy faithfully attended Highland Holiness Church and was a member of the Homemakers Association in Harrison County. Nancy was a loving grandmother who adored her grandchildren and cherished the time she spent with her family. She was also known for being strong, independent, and sometimes a little hard-headed. Nancy passed away on Friday, September 18, 2026 at Lake Pointe Village in Scottsburg.

Her life will be cherished by her sons: Kenneth "Clint" Harrison and his wife, Cherlyn of Pekin, Indiana, and Richard Boyle and his companion, Mildred Kathryn Bennett of Corydon, Indiana; her sisters: Susan Sullivan of Sacramento, California, Becky Stewart and her husband, Bill of Lexington, Indiana, Debra Box of Madison, and Cathy Kilgore of Madison; her brother: Pat Box and his companion, Kathy of Saluda, Indiana; her grandchildren: Krissy, Austin, Trevor, Damon, Hailey, Cass, Ava, and Finn; her great grandchildren: Callie, Hazel, Greycen, Ivory, and Azaleya; and numerous nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister: Donna Logsdon; and her brother who passed at birth, Charles Albert Box.

Funeral services will be conducted at 1:00 PM Saturday, October 3, 2026 at Welty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lytle Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, with interment to follow in New Bethel Cemetery near Chelsea, Indiana. Friends and family may visit at the Welty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lytle Chapel from 11:00 AM until the time of the service on Saturday, October 3, 2026.
