Karen Sue Boone, age 78, of Madison, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Russell and Eunice (Scott) Fitzgerald, was born on August 4, 1947, in Patriot, Indiana. She was a 1966 graduate of Patriot High School in Patriot, Indiana and later worked at Marble Hill Nuclear Plant and Public Service Indiana. Although her family briefly relocated to Texas, she later returned to the home where she was raised. On August 16, 1986, she was united in marriage to Roger Dale Boone in Warsaw, Kentucky. Following her passion for helping others look and feel their best, Sue attended cosmetology school and became a licensed beautician in Madison. Throughout her career, she owned her own salon and also worked at several local salons, including Blades Hair Salon, Fantastic Sams, and Fiesta Salon.

Sue enjoyed spending her free time knitting scarves and hats, many of which she lovingly donated to those in need. She also found joy in diamond painting, creating beaded jewelry, making prayer blankets, and embroidery. She was an avid euchre player and could often be found playing cards at the American Legion in Vevay, Indiana. Music was a constant companion in her life, and she especially enjoyed listening to her favorite songs from the 1950s and 1960s. A faithful and devoted member of Brooksburg Baptist Church, Sue took great pride in caring for the church grounds and lawn. She was also a member of the Women's Auxiliary at the Major Samuel Woodfill Post #9, American Legion, Madison. Sue had a gift for bringing smiles to others through her kindness, generosity, and sense of humor. Whether through a handmade gift, a thoughtful act of service, or a well-timed joke, she touched the lives of many and will be fondly remembered by all who knew and loved her. Ms. Boone passed away on Thursday, May 28, 2026 at the River Terrace Health Campus in Madison.

Her life will be cherished by her sons: David Koons, of Hampton, Georgia, and Eric Thompson of Colorado Springs, Colorado; her best friend and caretaker for the last six months, Leisa Howard of Madison; her sisters: Shirre Brandon of Madison and Janet Kunz of Florida; her brother: Jerry McCreary of Deputy, Indiana; her grandchildren: Joshua, Rebekah, and Laken; her great grandchildren: Ollie and Lily; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Roger Boone who passed away on October 4, 2022; her brothers: Buster Fitzgerald, Mike Fitzgerald, and Ralph Fitzgerald; and her sister: Priscilla Probst.

Honoring Sue's wishes, cremation was chosen and no formal services are planned at this time.
