Darrell Lee Lock, Sr., age 64, of Hanover, Indiana, and the son of Ralph and Shirley (Clubb) Lock, was born on July 26, 1962, in Madison, Indiana. He was a 1980 graduate of Southwestern High School in Hanover. Throughout the years, Darrell demonstrated a strong work ethic, working full-time at Meese Inc. while simultaneously building his own lawn care business. Through years of dedication and hard work, he was eventually able to leave Meese and devote himself full-time to owning and operating Lock's Lawn Care, a business he proudly ran for over 30 years. On September 25, 1993, he married the former Lisa Brooks in Brooksburg, Indiana, and they enjoyed 33 wonderful years together.

In his spare time, Darrell enjoyed going to yard sales, fishing, listening to music, taking the kids on outings, and making memories on family vacations. He also enjoyed collecting Case knives and antique fishing décor, as well as watching NASCAR and the Olympics. Known for his friendly nature, Darrell never met a stranger and was always willing to give others another chance. He was a loving and funny man who touched the lives of many. Mr. Lock passed away on Wednesday, October 28, 2026 at the Norton Hospital in Louisville, Kentucky, with his loving family by his side.

His life will be cherished by his wife, Lisa of Hanover; his children: Darrell Lee Lock, Jr. and his wife, Ashlee of Lexington, Indiana, Jennifer Hostetler and her husband, Ryan of New Washington, Indiana, Christi Adams and her husband, Robert of Lexington, Indiana, and Buddy Law and his wife, Kristina of Lexington, Indiana; his mother: Shirley Lock of Madison; his grandchildren: Starr Romans, Levi Romans, Hailey Collins, Paisley Lock, Dawson Lichlyter, Mason Lichlyter, Jacob Adams, Reed Adams, Emalyn Adams, Allison Law, Dayton Law, Brayden Lock, and Willow Lock; his aunt: Carolyn Wilson; his uncle: Junior Clubb; his sister-in-law: Beth Walters; his nephews: Derin Van Wye, Jeffrey Brooks, and Jonathan Harrison; and his nieces: Brittany Harrison and MeKaylie Tullis. He also shared a special friendship with Donnie Law, his wife's former husband. The two developed a bond built on friendship, respect, and a genuine appreciation for one another. Their relationship was unique and something truly special.

Darrell is preceded in death by his father, Ralph Lock; his daughters: Crystal Lock and Brittany Lock; his sister: Doris Van Wye; his brother-in-law: Richard Van Wye; his sister-in-law: Melissa Brooks; and his mother-and-father-in-law: Marcella and Bill Brooks.

Reverend JD Traylor will conduct funeral services at 6:00 PM Wednesday, November 4, 2026 at the Welty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lytle Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison, Indiana. Friends and family may visit at the Welty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lytle Chapel from 4:00 PM until the time of the service on Wednesday.

The family requests memorial contributions be made to the Jefferson County Youth Shelter. Contributions may be made at the Welty Family Funeral Home or below.
