Barbara Ann Bush, age 63, of Jonesville, Indiana, and the daughter of the late Henry and Dorothy (Smith) Shaneyfelt, was born on January 6, 1963, in Würzburg, Bavaria, Germany while her parents were stationed there at a U.S. military base. In her younger years, Barbara worked at the U.S. Shoe Factory in Crothersville, Indiana. She later became the assistant manager at Kentucky Fried Chicken in Seymour, where she dedicated many years of service. In her spare time, she enjoyed working puzzles, dancing, playing card and dice games, hunting for four-leaf clovers, reading, and going for drives.
Barbara was known for her warm personality and having never met a stranger. She loved to talk and could carry on a conversation with just about anyone. Her quick wit and wonderful sense of humor brought laughter to those around her, while her kind and understanding nature made her someone people naturally turned to for comfort and a good listening ear. Barbara was a former member of the Austin Church of Christ and enjoyed every moment she spent with her family, especially her grandchildren. Nothing brought her greater joy than being a mother and grandmother. Ms. Bush passed away on Sunday, June 7, 2026 at her residence in Jonesville.
Her life will be cherished by her daughter: Cristy Schmitter and her husband, Matthew, of Lexington, Indiana; her sisters: Angel Spencer and her husband, Johnny of Bolcher, Indiana, and Lisa Smith and her husband, Duke of Scottsburg, Indiana; her brother: Randy Shaneyfelt of Austin, Indiana; her grandchildren: Danny Morris-Bush, Ashton Bush, Miley Bush, and Jasper Vernon; her great grandchild: Alexander Crawhorn; and several nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first born son, Gregory Allen Bush.
Bro. Brian Schulz will conduct funeral services at 6:00 PM Tuesday, June 16, 2026 at the Welty Family Funeral Home and Cremation Service, Lytle Chapel, 117 Holt Drive, Madison.
